Vidappe, the free location-based services app first popularized on the iPhone is now available for all Android phones. Vidappe sends users discount notifications and reminders in real-time. Get close to a discount, get an alert – “15% off at Preppy Clothing ‘R Us a block away.”
There are a lot of discount programs in existence. Not the daily deal sites where you have to pay upfront for a discount. There are programs that already have a boatload of Free discounts for their existing members, a “thanks for being a member – here are some discounts you can use with your member ID” type of side perk.
Auto insurance companies, schools, credit cards, metro transit stations, libraries, etc – their member cards don’t just function as an ID card. Flash one and the next thing you know, you’ve received 15% off at Chico’s Tacos or $5 off your admission ticket to Ripley’s Space Museum.
Vidappe has stored the discount info for 155+ cards and sends the user an alert whenever a person is physically near a discount offered especially for them.
Since its launch on June 15, 2011, Vidappe has been promoted from organizations ranging from the Brooklyn Public Library to the Iowa State University Alumni Association to the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco. Organizations ranging from the ISU Credit Union BengalCard in Idaho to the University of Central Florida Alumni Association have requested to work directly with the Vidappe mobile platform in order to promote their member discounts in real-time.
This app has a different approach which is entirely different,” stated Tony Martin, the Webmaster at the San Francisco Vegetarian Society. “Many of us belong to groups or organizations that already offer us a discount on services or restaurant meals. Vidappe merely makes it useful to get the most out of what you already have, by showing you when you are close to one of these places that offer you a discount for being a member of your club/organization.”
Vidappe continues to add more discount programs to its platform every week. Schools, car rental companies, parent groups, any organization that offers a multitude of free perks for their members are free to join. Vidappe is a convenient, simple, tool that will not only remember everything for the user but will make saving money virtually effortless.
